TravelJack 3.0
|
Whether you're a world traveler
or just have global financial interests, here's a program that can help.
TravelJack is a 32-bit utility that keeps track of times, currency, and
measurements around the planet. Its international clock displays times for
one or more locations -- providing instant access to frequently-traveled or
referenced places. You can chedule events using local or foreign times to

message box. TravelJack also compares times in different places -- helping you
plan meetings, phone calls, or other foreign time-dependent events. Built-in
currency and measurement conversions round
off this well-done app. You can
update both currency rates and the correct time through your Internet
connection. The next time you go abroad, you'll find this handy program is a big

WinGlobe 1.2
|
WinGlobe takes a novel approach
to find its niche in the somewhat crowded international time utility field. Its
interface consists of a windowless globe -- which can be adjusted to any size --
that sits on your desktop. WinGlobe
can display the names of
countries and thousands of major cities. It can also tell you the population,
global position, and the current local time of each city. Other features let you
see if it's day or night at a particular location, show
the "as the crow flies" distance
between any two cities, and customize the interface in several ways. Whether you
want to access basic geographic information or just find out what time it is in
another part of the world, WinGlobe is up to the task. Plus, it's classic
shareware: There are no nag screens, so you're on your honor to register. |

calcAnt 2.0
|
Here's an interesting hybrid:
calcAnt combines a standard desktop calculator with a Notepad-like text editor.
Enter numbers using your mouse or the keyboard's numeric keypad. calcAnt formats
your input line by line and calculates the result after you press "Enter" or the
equal-sign key. Once you have created the lines, you can check your results or
perform any corrections. Just position the mouse cursor on any incorrect number
and change your
input; the program automatically
updates all calculations. You can add text and comments to your calculations and
save the results -- just like any text file -- for easy re-opening if necessary.
The system also lets you copy and paste data, use English or German dialog
boxes, and set the number of decimal places. If you've been looking for a
calculator with a flexible tape display, download calcAnt today. |

Multilingual Speaking Clock 1.2b
|
Multilingual Speaking Clock is a
32-bit freebie that, as you'd guess by its name, can tell the time audibly in
different languages. English is included here, spoken in a crisp, middle-aged
female voice. You can download other
language modules from the
author's Web page. Features include the choice of two looks, an alarm function,
and the ability to set the time interval from once every minute to once per
hour. You can also request the time manually. |

Talking CD Alarm Clock 1.0
|
Talking CD Alarm Clock brings a
large time display with unique alarm functions to your desktop. It can show the
time in bold letters, optionally in 24-hour format and with the seconds.
It's easy to set an alarm and have one of eight sounds or CD audio alert you
when the time has arrived. The highly visual
display shows the alarm time, a
checkbox indicating if it's on or off, and large buttons to turn off or delay
the alarm. You can also have the system optionally announce the time every
15, 30, or 60 minutes, using a reverb-enhanced voice. Capping off Talking CD
Alarm Clock is a Y2K display, ticking off the days, hours, minutes, and seconds
to the end or the beginning, depending
on your philosophy. The only
unpleasant aspect of Talking CD Alarm Clock is the resizing of the display,
caused by differently sized LCD-like characters. This clock is otherwise
functional and fun. |
